RUDBECKIA HIR MINIBECKIA FLAME
Grower Notes:
Rudbeckia hirta 'G16223' is commonly referred to as Minibeckia™ Flame Rudbeckia or Minibeckia™ Flame Black-Eyed Susan. It is a dwarf variety reaching only 18-24 inches tall and 12-18 inches wide. It features large yellow flowers with red-orange centers from late summer to frost. It attracts bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators, and deadheading keeps it fresh looking and blooms returning! Minibeckia™ Flame Rudbeckia thrives in full sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils.
The main difference between Rudbeckia fulgida and Rudbeckia hirta is in its flower size. The hirta cultivars have fewer, but larger flowers. Also, the Rudbeckia hirta stands more upright than the R. fulgida. Most R. hirta cultivars require some kind of protection to survive cold winters. Many new plants will grow up from the seed that is dropped from the previous year. If you deadhead, you might reduce the chance of the plants
